Esercizi di traduzione dall’italiano all’inglese
Questi sei verbi sono tra quelli più comuni che beneficiano di una formula dove al posto dell’italiano che + soggetto + congiuntivo, troviamo un semplice complemento oggetto + infinito. Per esempio:
- Voglio che loro rimangano qui.
- I want them to stay here.
Poiché questa formula è molto sfruttata in inglese, sopratutto nella forma condizionale, l’esercizio che segue dà l’opportunità di cimentarsi con alcune delle sue più tipiche sfumature.
Le versioni corrette più tipiche si trovano in fondo alla pagina insieme a una traccia audio per allenarsi con l’intonazione e l’accento. Chiaramente, a volte, ci può essere più di una versione corretta e quindi, se resta un dubbio, si può chiarire tutto utilizzando la sezione per i commenti in fondo alla pagina.

6) Non mi aspettavo che così tante persone si offrissero volontarie per un’attività così potenzialmente pericolosa.
7) Amerei che veniste tutti voi a vedere cosa è stato fatto con le donazioni che abbiamo ricevuto finora.
8) Quanti di questi esercizi vuoi che facciano prima che inizino il livello successivo?
9) Preferiresti che ti aspettino nell’area della reception o li faccio entrare nelle loro stanze?
10) Amerei che conoscesse tutte le persone che mi assistono da quando ho avuto l’incidente.
11) Qualcuno vuole che lo spieghi di nuovo, o è chiaro cosa ci aspettiamo che facciate quando arriva il Presidente?
12) È ovvio che non si aspettavano che tu puntassi loro il dito contro come principali colpevoli.

17) Non credo che Philip vorrebbe che parlassimo a qualcuno dei suoi recenti problemi economici.
