La traduzione, come metodo di esercizio nell’apprendimento di una lingua, farà sicuramente parte della vecchia scuola, però, inserita in un contesto più vario di apprendimento, soprattutto con feedback in tempo reale, può sempre essere un utile esercizio di allenamento.
Consiglio una partecipazione attiva e visibile postando la tua versione tra i commenti in fondo a questa pagina. In questo modo riceverai un mio commento o suggerimento in tempo più o meno reale. Not bad Luca. The only real problem is “spot” which is too ambiguous here. You need the word “stain”.
However, I would also use “advice” rather than “hints” and the present perfect “has remained”.

I would use the present perfect for “è rimasta”, Dino, since the stain is still there. Also, at the end, I would say, “as it was”. 🙂

I think I would prefer “followed” here, Claudio, but “took” is also possible.
“With great attention” sounds very Italian. Remember that we Brits LOVE adverbs: “very carefully”.
I don’t think you can really use “linger” with a “stain” as “linger” requires an animate subject.

A good effort, but there are a few things that need resolving:
1) the first verb should be past simple as it is clearly a reference to a specific moment in the past. If you use “paid close attention” then you should eliminate “follow”: “I paid close attention to Kate’s advice”
2) in some ways ➝ somehow
3) left ❎ has remained ✅
“exactly the same / as it was”: both are good.
