A good effort, Luca, but be careful. Your version is a bit different. If you say “Let others do…” then you’re saying, “Lascia che (gli) altri facciano…” and not “Lasciare agli altri…”
What you need here is “leave” and not “let”: “Leaving to the others…”
The rest is all good except for a bit of word order confusion in the second part: “be not” ➝ “not be”.

Anita, the only way you can make “letting” work here is by adding an infinitive. You would need to say, “Letting the others do what we…. The best alternative here is, “Leaving to the others…”
Personally, I would prefer, “haven’t been able to do” or “haven’t managed to do”, but “couldn’t” is also possible.
Also, I think in the second part you need “may not/might not” which give a more hypothetical sound whereas “couldn’t” sounds more deductive.
“be a not so bad idea” is wrong. Here you need “may/might not be such a bad idea”.

I think it’s the case for a present perfect here (haven’t managed) as the second part of the sentence makes it clear that we are talking about an ongoing situation.

Bear in mind that when you’re using a verb as a noun, it should always be a gerund and not an infinitive. Otherwise it sounds like an imperative in this case! So: “Leaving to the others…”
Also, a nice addition would be “ourselves” (da noi) after “to do”.
