One day, the artist Pablo Picasso decided to have dinner in one of the local taverns in his town. He hadn’t eaten out for several days and was looking forward to a hearty meal.

The food was as good as he had expected and he washed it all down with a large glass or two of excellent red wine. As he was finishing his meal, the landlord came up to his table with a beaming smile and said, “Master, your dinner is on the house.”

Picasso, appreciating the landlord’s generous gesture, fished in his pocket for a pen and proceeded to sketch one of his typically weird and wonderful drawings on the paper tablecloth in front of him.

The landlord watched, fascinated, as Picasso’s hand flicked to and fro over the tablecloth and the picture took shape before his eyes. When the artist had finished and was getting ready to leave, the landlord looked at him with an obsequious smile and asked, “Master, would you mind signing your picture for me?”

Picasso smiled back and replied, “You offered me dinner, not your restaurant.”

      Be careful with the long vowel sounds, sometimes you don’t give them quite enough strength.

      It was Roby who gave me the original story in a short form.
      I’ve just elaborated on it to make it a bit longer 🙂
