Bob and Tom, two government maintenance guys, were standing at the bottom of a flagpole, looking up, when a young lady walked by and asked them what they were doing.
“We’re supposed to measure the height of the flagpole,” said Bob, “but we haven’t got a ladder.”
“Hand me that spanner out of your toolbox,” said the woman.
A little bemused by the woman’s request, Bob handed her the spanner and watched in surprise as she loosened a few bolts and laid the pole down on the ground.
Then, taking a tape measure from the toolbox, the young lady quickly measured the flagpole from one end to the other.
“Eighteen feet and six inches,” she declared, and walked away.
Tom shook his head and laughed.
“Isn’t that just typical of a woman,” he said. “We need to know the height of the flagpole and she gives us the length!”
Epilogue: Bob and Tom are still working for the government, but now they are members of parliament.

Another good version, Dany. One or two uncertainties but on the whole well read with good phrasing. Be careful with ‘epilogue’ – the stress is on the first syllable.
