Good afternoon,
” You should have given It back to him before he had tò ask you.Now , he won’t lend It tò you anymore.”
Very good, Roby, as it stands.
Two possible small improvements would be:
he had to ask you → he had to ask you for it
won’t lend it to you anymore → won’t lend it to you ever again (see my note to Dany below)
🙂
….ever again….
I like This very much ,It really gives the idea of “Mai più”
Thanks you prof 😊
😀👍
You should have given it back before he had to ask for it; now he will no longer land it to you .
A good effort, Dany, but I think it can be improved on. Think about this:
given it back → given it back to him
before he had to ask for it → before he had to ask you for it
he will no longer lend it to you → he will never lend it to you again
🙂
You should have given it back to him before he had to ask you for it; now he will never lend it to you again.
I don’t know why I like that ” no longer” 😁 but I never guess how to use it.
“No longer” is “non più” and gives the idea of interrupting an ongoing situation.
I can no longer trust him (la mia fiducia in lui si interrompe a questo punto)
I no longer work there (Il mio lavoro lì si è interrotto)
“Never again” is “mai più” and indicates any undefined point in the future.
I will no longer make this mistake!
(I hope so! Can it work? )
😂👍
Thanks 😃
Have a great weekend 🌈
You too. 🙂
You should havde given it back to him before he had to ask for it , now he will never lend it to you again
You should have given it back to him before he had had to ask ( you)for it : now, he will never lend it to you anotherr time
Your first version is actually better than the second one, Carla. The only thing I would save from the second one to improve the first one is the “you” that you put in brackets.
🙂
You should have returned it to him before she had to ask you (for It). She’ll never lend it to you anymore by now.
A good effort, Alexia, but there are a couple of things that can be improved on:
returned it to him → given it back to her (“give back” sounds more natural and “her” because then you continue with “she”)
lend it to you anymore by now → lend it to you (ever) again now
anymore = “più” e non “di nuovo” – not “wrong” but not as natural
by now = “ormai” e non “adesso”
N.B. “for it” at the end of the first part is definitely a good addition.
🙂

You should’ve given it back to him before he had to ask you for it. He won’t ever lend it to you again now.
Very good, Paolo, although I think it might sound a bit more natural to use “never” with a positive verb in the second part.

Very good, Claudio. Just two small points to think about:
before he had to ask you → before he had to ask you for it (not necessary but nice)
from now → from now on
🙂
Hi,
You should have given back to him before he had to ask it to you; now he won’t lend it to you anymore.
Thank you very much
Hi there.
A very good effort but there are a few things that need addressing:
given back to him → given it back to him
he had to ask it to you → he had to ask you for it (ask vuole for, non to)
anymore → ever again (anche se “anymore” funziona, “ever again” dà meglio il senso di “mai più”)
🙂
Ciao !
You should have given it back to him before he had to ask you,now he’ll never lend it to you again.
Very good, Davide.
Personally, I would have said, “…before he had to ask you for it”, but the “for it” addition is not strictly necessary.
🙂
You should have given it back to him before he needed to ask you for it. From now on he won’t lend you ever again.
Hi Patty.
The first part of your version is great.
In the second part you really need to make a reference to the object again. So, using your format, you should say something like, “From now on he won’t ever lend it to you again.”
However, I would suggest that a native here would choose to use “never” and leave the verb in the affermative, “From now on he will never lend it to you again.”
🙂
You should have return it to him before he had to ask. Now he will never lend it to you again
Very good, Fede. 🙂
You’ve forgotten the -ed on “returned” and perhaps “given it back to him” would be a bit more typical in everyday English. Also, it would sound a bit more complete if you finished the first part with “he had to ask you for it”.
P.S. This week you’ve highjacked Patty’s thread 😂
Thanks for your important tips , I have forgotten ed I didn’t pay attention to it
I’m sure ed will forgive you this once! 😉
