All very good, Alexia, except for your choice of verb for “è tornato” in the second part. “Got back into” tends to imply a little the sense of “riuscire” which isn’t necessary at all here. I would just use a simple “went back into”.

All very good, Claudio, except for your choice of verb for “uscire” right at the beginning. “Get out of” tends to imply a little the sense of “riuscire” which isn’t necessary at all here. I would either use a simple “go out of” or, perhaps better still, “leave”.
The beginning would sound a bit more natural with “as” instead of “while”. 🙂

Hi there. A good effort but there are a few things to sort out here.
First of all, the original says, “stavamo per uscire” and not “stavamo uscendo”. So your version should be, “Just as we were about to leave…”
Then, “had missed” is not the right verb here; you need “had left” – and it needs a subject: “We realised (that) we had left…”
Lastly, in the second part, the preposition “in” should be “into”, because there is movement from one area to another.

You can’t use the Saxon genitive with objects, only with people (there are exceptions, but not many).
Consequently, you need to use the “adjective” trick: “the car keys” and “the kitchen table”.
“House” needs an article: “the house”.
“Suddenly” should be “immediately” and should come after “kitchen”, and the preposition “in” should be “into” because there is movement.

A good effort, Davide. The only problem is “leaving”. I’m afraid you can’t wriggle your way out of it with a simple gerund here! You have to create a second clause with a correctly conjugated verb! The rest is all good.
I would perhaps change the start a little and say, “Just as we were about to leave…”

Then you need to think again about the dynamics of the situation when you translate “è tornato” and when you translate “in” (in cucina).
