E la risposta giusta è……………didn’t have to.
Per chi ha sbagliato, in breve:
1) hadn’t to – non funziona perché have to (dovere) è un verbo regolare che richiede l’ausiliare come ogni altro verbo regolare: al past simple didn’t quando la frase è negativa;
2) haven’t had to – è grammaticalmente corretto ma è il present perfect di have to (dovere) che qui non ci sta come tempo perché la frase inizia con there were ed è quindi past simple;
3) mustn’t have – è grammaticalmente corretto ma è una forma che va completato con un participio passato ed è usato in ogni caso per deduzione logica al passato;
4) haven’t must – non esiste 😦
5) didn’t must – non esiste 😦
