[ELEMENTARY]
Instructions for use:
- PRESENTATION ~ lettura scorrevole di orientamento: ascolta senza scrivere.
- DICTATION ~ lettura lenta e spezzettata con ripetizione: ascolta e scrivi.
- FINAL READING ~ lettura scorrevole di controllo: ascolta e aggiusta (se necessario).

Christina Sanders is a police officer in Fort William, a small town on the west coast of Scotland. She gets up at six o’clock every morning, has a shower, and takes her two dogs for a long walk. After her breakfast, fruit and cereal, Christina puts on her uniform and goes to work. Christina works hard. Her job isn’t easy and she is sometimes stressed. She thinks that it is important to do exercise and have a healthy diet. She usually has fish or pasta for dinner. She hardly ever eats meat and she doesn’t drink alcohol. Christina has a very good social life. Her friends often visit her in the evening and she cooks dinner for them. She doesn’t have a TV, but once or twice a month she goes to the cinema. Christina also loves sport. She usually works at the weekend, but on her days off she plays basketball and tennis.
Ho scritto quasi tutto correttamente. Ho riportato ” food” anziché “fruit” e health anziché healty.
Grazie per queste esercitazioni. In questi giorni tristi di ritiro forzato per la grave situazione di emergenza sanitaria qui in Lombardia, mi sono molto utili e spero che in aggiunta ad altre esercitazioni (letture, film in lingua inglese ecc.) potrò incrementare il mio livello.

Ti dà la possibilità giornalmente di metterti alla prova con la frase del giorno.

Hi Sara. Ho ascoltato un paio di volte e devo dire che la tua pronuncia non è male affatto. Il fatto che ti concentri molto sul suono tende a rendere un po’ meno naturale il suono complessivo ma questo è un problema minore che col tempo scomparirà. Dovresti concentrarti sul suono delle vocali lunghe che sono sempre un problema. Trovi un primo approccio qui: https://ingliando.net/pronunciation/vocali-lunghe/
Bisogna dare un po’ di ‘peso’ a queste vocali quando parli.

Hi, ho appena fatto il dettato. Si’ effettivamente mi è sembrato semplice ma trovo che sia utilissimo perché con la lentezza del dettato ci si concentra anche molto sulla grammatica.
Ad esempio: sono della vecchia scuola…..dove veniva insegnato che il verbo ‘TO HAVE’ non ha bisogno di nessun ausiliare quando indica possesso. Mentre quando è usato come verbo dinamico (TO HAVE A SHOWER per esempio) usa l’ausiliare DO come tutti i verbi d’azione.
Ho visto – SHE DOESN’T HAVE A TV…. si tratta dell’evoluzione della lingua??
Le sono davvero riconoscente per le opportunità che offre a tutti quelli che le cercano:
pronuncia di un madrelingua, una chiarezza disarmante nelle spiegazioni grammaticali, la correzione degli esercizi della ‘palestra’. Tutti gli insegnanti dovrebbero avere la Sua dedizione.
Sono certa che gli studenti imparebbero meglio ma soprattutto più volentieri! Lei fa venire voglia di continuare ad imparare!

With regard to your question: yes, exactly. This seems to be the direction that the verb “to have” is taking today. When you use “to have” as a static verb you can effectively choose between the old school “have got” (no auxiliary but strengthened with ‘got’) which is, of course, still widely used in modern English, or, if you prefer, you can simply treat the verb “to have” as an ordinary verb that requires all the standard auxiliaries that all normal verbs require.
P.S. I will try to provide a more stimulating ‘intermediate’ level dictation as soon as possible!

Ho fatto tutto giusto, ma non era difficile… e ora so pure dove si trova Fort William 🙂

Il livello è sicuramente più elementary che intermediate, ma poiché molti non si allenano molto nell’ascolto, preferisco cominciare con questi brani di ‘rodaggio’ per adesso. Poi cercherò qualcosa un po’ più impegnativo. Comunuqe brava, e grazie per la segnalazione del ‘typo’ (già corretto).
