Ci sono tanti tipi di frasi impersonali in inglese (come pure in italiano), ma qui desidero mettere in evidenza le forme più tipiche che ruotano attorno a un aggettivo di base.
Pur limitandoci in questo modo, ci sono sempre delle varianti, ma prendiamole una per una.
► It + be + AGGETTIVO + infinito
- It is nice to know that my presence is appreciated.
- È carino sapere che la mia presenza è apprezzata.
- It has been lovely to see you again after all these years.
- È stato bello vedervi di nuovo dopo tutti questi anni.
- It was fascinating to hear about all their adventures.
- Fu affascinante sentire di tutte le loro avventure.
- It will be interesting to see their reaction.
- Sarà interessante vedere la loro reazione.
- It would be useful to have a map of the area.
- Sarebbe utile avere una mappa della zona
- It could be difficult to cross the river in the winter.
- Potrebbe essere difficile attraversare il fiume in inverno.

- It is handy for them to have a bus stop right here.
- È comodo per loro avere una fermata dell’autobus proprio qui.
- It has been hard for Tom to keep up with the others.

- It was exciting for the children to explore the forest.
- Fu eccitante per i ragazzi esplorare la foresta.

- È tipico da parte di Clare lasciare il frigo pieno di cibo.
- It has been so kind of them to look after the dogs for us.
- È stato così gentile da parte loro badare ai cani per noi.
- It has been very sweet of your parents to put us up this week.
- È stato molto dolce da parte dei tuoi genitori ospitarci questa settimana.
- It was nasty of Jack to hit Bob like that.
- Fu cattivo da parte di Jack colpire Bob in quel modo.
- It was unfair of the landlord to raise the rent again so soon.
- Fu ingiusto da parte del padrone di casa alzare di nuovo l’affitto così presto.
Un’alternativa ugualmente utile è la formula esclamativa con ‘how’.

- How nice it is to meet you at last.
- Quanto è bello conoscerti finalmente.
- How strange it was to go back to my old school.
- Quanto è stato strano ritornare alla mia vecchia scuola.
- How lovely it will be to see Kate again.
- Quanto sarà bello vedere Kate di nuovo.
- How wonderful it would be to live here all year.
- Quanto sarebbe meraviglioso vivere qui tutto l’anno.
