The hitchhiker

I was driving across the country a couple of weeks ago and was just about to join the motorway when I noticed a hitchhiker by the side of the road.
I don’t usually pick up hitchhikers, but it was really hot and it was Friday and I was in a good mood, so I stopped and let him get in.
After the usual small talk followed by a long silence, he suddenly turned towards me and asked me if I wasn’t afraid that he might be a serial killer.
I told him that it was extremely unlikely to find two serial killers in the same car.

The young artist and the art critic

A young artist was exhibiting his work for the first time in quite an important art gallery. Wandering around the gallery was a well-known art critic, famous for his bluntness. At a certain point, the art critic walked up to the young artist and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Would you like to hear my opinion of your work?” he asked.
“Yes, of course,” replied the artist, pleasantly surprised.
“It’s worthless,” the critic exclaimed.
“Oh, I know,” replied the artist, “but let’s hear it anyway.”
