Sono ormai pocchissimi quelli che non sanno elencare i numeri da 1 a 10 in inglese, ma spesso, quando si cerca di andare oltre 10, cominciano già i primi problemi. Di solito le difficoltà si manifestano in due campi: quello della memorizzazione dei vocaboli (non sono tanti ma si devono purtroppo memorizzare), e quello della pronuncia. Entrambi questi problemi si possono superare eseguendo più volte un semplice esercizio di ascolta e ripeti ed è quello che vorrei proporre qui a seguire.

N.B.1 La distinzione di suono tra i numeri da 13 a 19 e le decine da 30 a 90 è molto importante e non è facile distinguere neanche per un madrelingua (basta pensare agli altoparlanti scassati di certe stazioni ferroviarie!) Bisogna concentrarsi su due elementi: l’accento (singolo o doppio) e la presenza o no della –n finale. I numeri da 13 a 19 hanno un doppio accento abbastanza bilanciato, come se fossero due parole, e finiscono con la –n che si deve sentire bene. Invece le decine da 30 a 90 hanno un solo accento forte all’inizio della parola e poi sfumano.
N.B.2 In inglese i numeri grandi si dividono con la virgola, le frazioni con il punto (l’opposto dell’italiano!)
