Good, Rachele, but if you use the singular form, then you should use “an” and not “any”. The original would seem, however, to be an attempt at a plural subject.

La frase interrogativa “C’è qualche mercatino di antiquariato nei dintorni?” va necessariamente trasformata, nella traduzione in inglese, in “Ci sono alcuni mercatini di antiquariato nei dintorni?”

No, not necessarily. There are two possibilities here:
1) Are there any antique markets in the area/around here?
2) Is there an antique market in the area/around here.
Both are correct.
My point was that the original sentence starts with “they” and then has “some” which gives the impression that the speaker is attempting the plural version rather than the singular one.
