L’esercizio è semplice quanto diabolico: metto insieme una serie di parole inglesi, tutte parole genuine, che nel loro insieme non hanno nessun senso compiuto. Ma quando quelle stesse parole vengono lette ad alta voce con la giusta cadenza, intonazione, e interpretazione vocale, all’improvviso viene fuori una frase perfettamente sensata.
Un nuovo modo di interpretare il famoso detto dell’attrice americana Mae West: “It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.”
Per riuscirci, bisognerà basarsi sull’ortografia sì, ma bisognerà andare ben oltre, focalizzandosi sulla pronuncia di ogni singola parola, facendo scorrere l’insieme di parole, riflettendo sulle forme contratte, le elisioni, l’assimilazione, la concatenazione, gli omofoni, finché non esce, come per magia, la frase nascosta.
Ecco la prima prova:
heel no wear ewe ah
(tallone no indossare pecora ah)

At first I was wrong about the correct pronounce of the word “ewe” 🙂
In fact, that is the tricky word. But if you look it up online you’ll see that the pronunciation is exactly the same as “you”!

Not at all. It’s not a hole in the water…quite the opposite, in fact..
It took me some time to repeat it in a loud voice until I finally got it… EWE is not an easy word to pronounce …
