I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but so far nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind!
Spot on, Claudio. Well done. 🙂
Ci penso da parecchio tempo, ma finora nulla è stato sufficientemente convincente da farmi cambiare idea
Hi prof
.i have been thinking of It for a long time but so fare nothing has been convincing enough tò make me change my mind.
Very good, Roby.
All I would change is “thinking of” for “thinking about”. 🙂
ok prof😁
😀👍
Hi prof
I have been thinking about it for a long time but so far nothing has been convincing enough to change my mind.
thank very much
Very good, but can you think of a formula in English that would be more typical for “farmi cambiare idea”?
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but so far nothing has been convincing enough to change my mind.
Very good, Dino, but can you think of a formula in English that would be more typical for “farmi cambiare idea”?
Good morning Tony!
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but until now nothing has been convincing enough to change my mind
Nice effort, Gaetano, but there are two things to consider here:
Tony I proceeded with the correction. I hope this time the translation is correct:
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, but so far nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind
That’s the version that I was looking for, Gaetano. Well done. 🙂
Ci penso da parecchio tempo, ma finora nulla è stato sufficientemente convincente da farmi cambiare idea.
I think about it for a long time but nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind.
I have been thinking about it for a long time but nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind.
This (second) is the version that I was looking for, Dani. Well done. 🙂
Could I also say ” I have thought about it for a long time,….”?
Of course. The “simple” form is never actually “wrong”, but in this case it doesn’t render nearly as well as the continuous form.
Got it. Thanks again. Have a good weekend 🌞
And you, Dani. 🙂
I’ve been thinkin’ about it for a long time, but nothing has been convincing enough up to now(so far)to make me change my mind
Very good, Davide. 🙂
N.B. Bear in mind this subtle difference: https://ingliando.net/2022/03/09/so-far-so-good/
thanks tony…I didn’t know this slight difference before so far and until now…but in today’s sentence so far is correct, isn’t it?
Ps so far vs up to now…which do you prefer?
Yes, here we have the impression that the situation is continuing into an unknown future and not that it has recently changed, so I would definitely opt for “so far”.
thanks tony
another question
does the past perfect “work “with until now?
non avevo mai visto un elefante finora
I had never seen an elephant until now.
No, Davide. The past perfect only relates to the past simple (narration).
So, for example, if you were telling a story, you could say,
“I had never seen an elephant before then.”
Or,
“I had never seen an elephant until that moment.”
ok 👌 thanks
😀👍
I missed ? 😂😂😂😂
it’s true tony it is: da farmi cambiare idea.
I have been thinking about it for long time, but so far nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind
thanks for the link……..very clear explanation
tony Tony, I asked for your help with the intermediate translation practice…. mix 4 when you have time you could answer me. I think you didn’t get the notice
thanks a lot
Well done, Giovanna. 🙂
P.S. I’ve answered your queries on IT Mix 4.
Ci penso da parecchio tempo, ma finora nulla è stato sufficientemente convincente da farmi cambiare idea.
I’ve been thinking about it for ages, but nothing has been convincing enough to change my mind so far.
Forse ci vuole “make me”…
I’ve been thinking about it for ages, but nothing has been convincing enough to make me change my mind so far.
Yes, Paolo. It sounds much more natural with that “make me”.
Well done! 🙂
As natural as APS’ water!
I don’t think anything could ever be quite as natural as that, Paolo, but I’m sure it comes a close second. 😂
thank you Paolo for your like it is very encouraging for me, you are very good and you have been studying English for a long time ……and you make me so proud.
I’ve heard of “Proud Mary”, but “Proud Giovanna” is new to me. 😂
Keep up the good work! 🙂
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time but untill now/so far nothing has been convincing enough to change my mind
Very good, Giovanna, but it can be improved upon.
How about that “farmi cambiare idea”?
