Sei in grado tu di rendere la frase di oggi in inglese?

La traduzione, come metodo di esercizio nell’apprendimento di una lingua, farà sicuramente parte della vecchia scuola, però, inserita in un contesto più vario di apprendimento, soprattutto con feedback in tempo reale, può sempre essere un utile esercizio di allenamento.

Consiglio una partecipazione attiva e visibile postando la tua versione tra i commenti in fondo a questa pagina. In questo modo riceverai un mio commento o suggerimento in tempo più o meno reale.           1. Of course. The “simple” form is never actually “wrong”, but in this case it doesn’t render nearly as well as the continuous form.

      1. thanks tony…I didn’t know this slight difference before so far and until now…but in today’s sentence so far is correct, isn’t it?

        Ps so far vs up to now…which do you prefer?

        1. Yes, here we have the impression that the situation is continuing into an unknown future and not that it has recently changed, so I would definitely opt for “so far”.

            1. No, Davide. The past perfect only relates to the past simple (narration).
              So, for example, if you were telling a story, you could say,

              “I had never seen an elephant before then.”
              Or,
              “I had never seen an elephant until that moment.”
